Crown of thorns

Crown of thorns

It was a dark day
it was the darkest of days.
In the city streets
it was just an ordinary day
in many ways.

But I felt this pain
and I’m not sure I can explain
but the feeling
oh, the feeling
the feeling just won’t go away.

Love lies slaughtered…

And I saw with my own eyes
what no man should ever see
I saw the river on fire
and vengeance hanging from the trees

And you
you want me dead.
Well, at least that’s what you said.
Do you really want to see that?
Do you want to see a bullet in my head?

And then a vision in blue
our saviour and you
and He was crying
He was crying
and He gave his crown of thorns to you

And in your moment of insanity
you saw the pain of humanity
and you wept
and you wept
and you set the souls free

Cry with me
cry with me
set them free
set them free
set them free.

Cry with me
cry with me
set them free
set them free
set them free

It was a Holy day!
It was the Holiest of days.
In the city streets
it was an incredible day
in many ways

Because I saw all the trapped souls
ascending, and going home
and the feeling
oh, the feeling
the feeling is one of such joy.

Love is remembered

And you saw with your own eyes
what every soul should see
you saw a river of love
and angels helping them to be free

And I
I wish for you
all that’s beautiful and true
I really want to see that
I want to see that in you

Be in this vision of trust
our saviour and us
and all this crying
all this crying
He gave His crown of thorns to us

And in our moment of sanity
we took the pain of humanity
and we loved
and we loved
and we honoured his trust

Cry with me
cry with me
set them free
set them free
set them free

Cry with me
cry with me
set them free
set them free
set them free
set them free
