Let you go

Let you go

In the calm of the fury
And the violence of the peace
In the atmosphere of sacrifice
He knelt down and bowed to me

And I struggled to accept
His holy hands upon my feet
I felt unworthy, undeserving,
Unbuttoned and unclean

But he raised his head and looked at me
With eyes that knew my world
And I felt something within me
From beyond my death and birth

So you see, my love, my darling,
Now I know what you have known
You’ve held it for a thousand years
’til I could let you go

Let you go…

Let you go…

In higher love the laws are strange
Good is when you feel the pain
The wedding day comes after the divorce

By working on morality
And virtue’s higher clarity
I understand, now, what you thought was false

Let go of what you love the most, and go
Let go of what you love…
I let you go

All my visions and directions
They were temptations, not blood but bone
I thought I knew you, every movement
I thought our history was carved in stone

You told me you didn’t miss me any more
You didn’t care about my things
I kept a rose for you, and a candle
And a higher heart with wings

Until one day I did not know your face
The years had disappeared
In time and space

Now your flesh, your skin, your blood,
Like mine is a bewilderment
I cannot find the lover I have known

I never thought by losing you
I’d find you in a greater truth
It’s hard to keep the faith and let you go

Let go of what you love the most, and go
Let go of what you love…
I let you go

Your smiling face, your half-moon voice
I never really had a choice
You loved me
And that’s all I need to know

To be loved by you was sacrament
An other-worldly ‘accident’
Our mission was to love and then let go

And then let go

Let you go…

Let you go…
