Stella Maris
(Music by Myristica)

The night was made of silver
And the nascent moon was like ice
By the lake I saw the rushes gently arcing their crowns
Towards the stellar reflections on the lapping water
Like angels regarding the Holy child
And her sigh became a breath of wind

And beyond her, an apparition
The darting form of a water nymph
And seven silver fishes leaping and dissolving into the ether
Against the silhouetted curtain of the ancestral forest
As the moon maiden arose and broke the waters
Creating a sea of stars ~ Stella Maris ~ Stella Maris

And each star was a lantern, a ghost inside the breeze
I counted many hundred, until I mercifully slept the sleep
Of all the sailors, and the saviours, and the strangers,
And the soldiers, and the lovers I had been
And the moon settled my soul oh-oh-oh

Then I rose to meet her, as she then rose to me
From the sleep of the ancient’s and the echo of the sea
We entwined in a passion more tangible and real
Than earthly lips I have kissed
Or any truths I conceal oh-oh-oh

And I then rode the waters, and then I rode the sea
And I love all of creation, as creation loves me
I’m a lantern in the moonlight
A star upon the sea
I’m a vessel of your beauty
And now I live in Thee oh-oh-oh

The night is made of silver
And the nascent moon is like ice
By the lake I see the rushes gently arcing their crowns
Towards the stellar reflections on the lapping water
Like angels regarding the Holy child
As your sigh becomes a breath of wind

Stella Maris…
